Spaghetti Western Pasta

Academic | 2018

Spaghetti Western was conceived as an original pasta brand aimed to appeal to both kids and moms looking for "fun" meal options. A limited color palette and smooth geometric forms successfully evoke the feeling of classic western movie posters, while the logo—a cowboy hat that doubles as a bowl of pasta—highlights the theme.

The packaging itself builds on two games. First, the reveal window becomes the setting sun over a western landscape, for which the yellow hue of the pasta creates the perfect tone. And second, turning the box reveals a visual narrative: consumers see the cowboy and his trusty horse “arrive” on the front of the box at sunset, and when they turn the box around, they’ll find the same duo having made camp for the night, presumably enjoying a helping of Spaghetti Western pasta cooked over a roaring fire.

I developed the Spaghetti Western pasta brand from scratch, including logos, branding elements, and packaging, during my time in Chatham University’s Interdisciplinary Design Program. Don’t you wish it were available on a shelf near you?
