Lent is for Lovers

Branding and Logo | 2018

Project Summary

Due to the coinciding dates of Ash Wednesday and Valentine's Day in February 2018, the Dominican priests of Cincinnati, OH conceptualized a speaker series which would explore connections between these two significant days. They asked me to create a logo and related branding elements that would be both clearly Lenten and clearly romantic.

I designed a mark that played with distance to do just that. From far away, a simple but highly textured valentine heart communicates the theme of vintage romance. Up close, however, the full Stations of the Cross can be discerned in the black lace trim surrounding the heart.

The “Lent Is for Lovers” campaign grew beyond its home-spun roots to inspire media and individuals across the country and as far away as Kenya.
