Aquinas 101

September 2020

Aquinas 101 is the title of a video series created by the Thomistic Institute in order to promote thomistic philosophy to a wider audience. These videos in their first season featured several visually complex animated illustrations per episode. As the Institute entered their second season, though, they sought out a new creative team who could help them diversify the visuals while remaining flexible and financially competitive.

I was therefore commissioned by third party production company White Hart Insight to head up the visuals. From September of 2020 through January of 2021, I served as primary illustrator on the series' graphic elements, often producing between 7-10 illustrations per week.

Although illustrating for animation always includes unique challenges - including fast paced timelines and lots of back-and-forth edits, not to mention the technical nuances of structuring an illustration to be animated - the work produced satisfactorily maintained the 'look' of the previous season while still expanding the visual language of the series.
